The road to a pollution-free construction ground

We are specialists when it comes to conducting examinations and cleaning polluted soil just as we can manage property developments regardless of the type and scope of pollution. We have several years of experience with projects that concern preliminary examinations, authorities’ applications, pre-qualifications, indoor climate assessments and final construction documents.

We help clients safely through the process from the initial idea to the finished project. The client receives a full overview of the pollution on their property and the costs of the different solutions for remediation.

Nature protection and restoration

Urban development, infrastructure, soil cultivation and climate change all take their toll on nature. We develop solutions to ensure that new developments are created in interplay with nature areas and not at the expense of nature.

When construction or civil works projects need to include an Environmental Impact Assessment, Strategic Environmental Assessment or Natura 2000, it is an advantage for you as owner to start the preparatory work as soon as possible. Teglholm Brygge

The site on which the residential neighbourhood in the south of Copenhagen was built contained a lot of chlorinated solvents and degradation products. Artelia assisted with the authorities’ processing, environmental management and indoor climate proofing.

The majority of the polluted soil was dug out during the construction phase. However, leftover pollution was found in the groundwater which might affect the indoor climate later on. Artelia helped avert the indoor climate risks by setting up an active ventilation system in the basement under the building. The system cleanses the polluted fumes that rise up before they enter and affect the indoor climate.

DTU Power Plant

Artelia has assisted with Environmental Impact Assessments and environmental applications for the installation of a new gas motor at the plant. In addition, a new environmental management system was implemented at the plant which was a requirement for the renewed environmental approval.

Better BirdLIFE

Artelia is to examine and prepare detailed designs for different activities on Nyord, Avnø and Dybsø where the natural hydrology is to be restored to support nature and, particularly, meadow birds.

The project is part of the Better BirdLIFE initiative under the LIFE programme.
