Storage and logistics

Our experience covers everything from large-scale logistics centers to custom-designed storage facilities for nuclear waste and sensitive cultural artifacts. Our expertise in this field is a combination of our competencies in industry, construction, and infrastructure.

Denmark’s only storage facility for nuclear waste

Artelia is the lead consultant on the NOL (New Upgraded Storage) project, where all of Denmark’s radioactive waste will be stored until a final solution for the disposal is found by 2073 at the latest. The storage facility is being constructed at Risø in Roskilde and is unique in a Danish context. The technical solutions are advanced, and safety must be considered in every part of the project down to the smallest detail.

The Shared Storage Facility in Vinge

The National Museum and The Royal Library have acquired a new shared storage facility, which protects several of the country’s invaluable cultural artifacts. The energy consumption is also low, thanks to the efficient use of passive measures that reduce operational costs and the need for technical systems.

The stored materials have different requirements, necessitating three types of storage rooms. These include so-called basic storage rooms with approximately 25,000 m² of shelving space for objects from the National Museum, and cold and dry storage rooms with 120 kilometers of shelves for material from The Royal Library.

Greve Distribution Center

The logistics center in Greve was commissioned by the Belgian investment company MG Real Estate and has a total storage capacity of approximately 110,000 m². On the 230,000 m² site, 51,000 m² of pavement is laid for roads and parking areas. The warehouse itself consists of 11 storage halls, each with an area of 10,000 m². The stacking height is 11.7 meters. In connection with each storage hall, 500 m² of office space is established as a mezzanine floor.

As part of Artelia’s consulting services, we have created a master plan for the entire area, which includes, for example, a 3D model for use in earth balance calculations.

Additionally, Artelia managed the relocation of existing utilities (TDC main fiber, water ø315/ø1160), the design of roads and parking areas (for modular road trains), planning of all new supplies to the area, and coordination in connection with the establishment of a 20,000 m³ rainwater basin.

MG Park Malmö – Westerman Multimodal Logistics

At Malmö Harbor, the Belgian investment company MG Real Estate has a logistics center for handling cargo between trucks and trains. The 18,500 m² warehouse is therefore equipped with an internal rail track. In connection with the warehouse, 800 m² of office space is established as a mezzanine floor.

The site itself covers 35,000 m², of which 12,000 m² consists of pavement for roads and parking areas.
