ICT

We regard ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) as an important area of action when streamlining processes and ensuring increased efficiency during the design and building processes will produce better results. ICT is also used to think ahead to improve digital delivery.

Why ICT is used

There has been an increase in the number of disciplines in the construction sector, which has contributed to greater complexity. The use of ICT will help strengthen the exchange of information and communication between the many parties involved in a construction project. ICT can therefore have a crucial impact on whether requests, functions, etc. are properly communicated, so requirements for quality, time and economy can be met satisfactorily.

Denmark imposes legal requirements on the use of ICT in social housing, regional authority and municipal buildings if the construction price is estimated at min. DKK 20 million. Government buildings are subject to the regulatory ICT requirements in force at an estimated contract price of just DKK 5 million. The requirements apply if at least 50% of a building is funded by loans or grants from public bodies.

Key focus areas

Our approach to ICT work can be divided into four areas of focus:

Requirement analysis
Applying limits to the use of ICT is essential to avoid “drowning” in redundant data and information. Consultation with clients and building operators make it possible to produce a theoretical projection of future operation, enabling identification of relevant focus areas and their essential needs.

Organisation
In order to structure ICT work, we help create an ICT organisation in which the relevant parties are placed. This has to be designed to ensure that data flows can be properly managed and there is no doubt concerning chains of command.

Contractual basis
At the start of a construction project, it is essential to establish a consensus between the parties involved in the project. We can help develop an ICT contract based on the developer’s actual requirements. The contract typically consists of a service specification with associated technical specifications to be negotiated, concluded and used throughout the project.

Coordination
The range of different disciplines, requirements, etc. often make ICT a complex matter. ICT meetings are among the important activities we help to facilitate. They can be used to arrange interdisciplinary coordination of digital work. This is necessary to manage the various schedules, related processes, unforeseen information needs, etc. Monitoring compliance with an ICT contract to ensure that it is maintained is another aspect of the work we do.

ICT infrastructure
ICT infrastructures include classifications, drawing standards, document management, and ‘Projektweb’ portals. Uniformity is of paramount importance when choosing the right solutions if data management is to be able to make a project more efficient.
