Novonesis<\/h3><\/div>

For the global biotech company, Artelia has a wide range of completed and ongoing projects focused on optimizing the production facility and industrial processes.<\/p>\n

The projects include process improvements, implementation of new technology, and production expansions. We typically handle conceptual, basic, and detailed design, followed by construction management and supervision, as well as testing and commissioning, all within the framework of the specific requirements governing the production.<\/p>\n

When implementing modifications and updates to the complex process plants, we use 3D scans. This provides an overview and forms the basis for a full modeling of the existing facilities, new process equipment, and the utilities that we are responsible for detailed designing. At the same time, we conduct user workshops and manage the dialogue with suppliers in mapping capacity requirements.<\/p>\n

Since the tasks require ongoing integration and close dialogue with users, we are often physically located on-site throughout the project. This aligns well with the close collaboration we highly value and see as a guarantee for success.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Custom-Designed Bunker for DTU Ris\u00f8’s New Cyclotron<\/h3><\/div>

DTU Ris\u00f8 has expanded its facilities with another cyclotron for the production of radioactive substances for medical use. Artelia has been involved in the establishment of a custom-designed underground bunker to protect the surroundings from the radiation of the cyclotron.<\/p>\n

Radioactive substances and PET scans are crucial in cancer diagnosis and treatment. DTU Ris\u00f8 has decided to double its production capacity to meet the increasing demand for these important substances from the country’s hospitals.<\/p>\n

The new bunker is established as a separate unit offset from existing facilities, requiring complex coordination and technical creativity in the installation-heavy project. Collaboration with DTU Ris\u00f8\u2019s organization and users was crucial for the success.<\/p>\n

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability<\/h3><\/div>

The 12,000 m\u00b2 laboratory building named DTU Biosustain is centrally located at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in Lyngby and features a flexible and modular building layout that accommodates the changing needs of the research world and innovative environments.<\/p>\n

The building houses the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability, which focuses on developing new knowledge on how to promote bio-based production. This international interdisciplinary research center revolves around biotechnology, synthetic biology, and data analysis.<\/p>\n

The laboratories have high requirements for temperature and cleanliness, and the building is heavily equipped with installations. All laboratories are classified for work with GMO class 1. Additionally, several laboratories are classified for work with GMO class 2. The building is equipped with ring ventilation, providing flexible and economically optimal laboratory ventilation. It is also operationally optimized, as individual systems can be serviced while in operation.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Aarhus University<\/h3><\/div>

Aarhus Municipal Hospital is gradually being transformed into Aarhus University’s new campus area, Universitetsbyen. The renovation of Building Complex 1870 consists of 5 separate buildings totaling approximately 28,900 m\u00b2 including basements.<\/p>\n

The building’s new functions are primarily tailored to the university and house, among others, the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Bioinformatics, and DANDRITE (Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience). In this connection, modern and flexible laboratory facilities of approximately 7,000 m\u00b2 have been established, including GMO class 2 laboratories, climate chambers, fish facilities, and three large teaching laboratories.<\/p>\n

The complexity was high as the existing building structure was in no way prepared for the establishment of modern research facilities. Furthermore, the project was tendered in up to 20 trade contracts, which required special coordination and clarification of interfaces.<\/p>\n<\/div>
